Lavanya Ashok is an Executive Director in Goldman Sachs’ Merchant Banking Division (MBD) in India, where she heads private equity coverage for South India. She serves on the board of Global Consumer Products, Nova Medical, Pepperfry.com and Azure Hospitality. Lavanya is on the Mumbai Diversity Committee for Goldman Sachs and has co-headed the Mumbai Women’s Network for the past five years. Previously, Lavanya worked at SPO Partners & Company, a $10bn California-based hedge fund focused on value-oriented investing.
Lavanya earned a BS in Economics and Finance summa cum laude from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania in 2004 where she was a Beta Gamma Sigma scholar. She also received an MBA in 2010 from Stanford University where she was a Barrett Fellow and President of the South Asia Students’ Association.
Lavanya is passionate about investing, social entrepreneurship, dance, photography, books and long meandering conversations with family and friends. She lives with her husband Arjun in Mumbai.
